Do I need insurance?
While Streamline Movers will take the utmost care with your belongings, we recommend that you are fully insured for your move and/or storage. Check with your own insurer that your interests are covered or Streamline Movers can put you in contact with insurance brokers who will ensure you have the right cover.
Can I put some goods into storage and move others to a new address?
Yes, Streamline Movers is happy to do both jobs for you. It may be possible to pick up everything at the same time, but make sure you clearly mark or separate what is to be moved and what is to be stored.
Do I need to be present when my goods are picked up and delivered?
You or someone you trust should be there at both points – especially at the destination to show our removalists where furniture and boxes need to be placed.
Can I do the packing myself?
Yes, this will save you money. But don’t overload boxes or make them too heavy to lift. Reinforce the bottom of all boxes with tape, place heavier items at the bottom of boxes and fill them to capacity with packing paper or light fillers. Lighter items, like bedding and clothes, should go into larger boxes and heavier itmes, like books and tools, should go into smaller ones. Label boxes with your name, contents and which room it is to go into.
Can Streamline Movers provide packing materials?
Yes, we can sell you at wholesale prices sturdy cartons, packing paper, bubble wrap, marker pens and tape.
What advantage is there in Streamline Movers doing your packing?
Leaving this work to our professionals will make the move easier for you and ensure your goods are packed properly.
Are there any items that cannot be moved or stored?
Dangerous goods including firearms, ammunition, flammable liquids, oils and gases, paints, solvents, aerosols, poisons and chemicals for pool treatment; unhygienic goods; precious small items like jewellery and stamp collections. Plants cannot be moved interstate and garden tools must be clean of all soil and vegetable matter when moving interstate. Perishable food cannot be stored.

Moving Tips

Declutter your property - there's no point paying to move or store anything you don't use or need!

Arrange to disconnect your electricity, gas, pay TV and any other services you use and arrange for the services to be connected at your new home.

Arrange for your mail to be redirected to your new address and notify friends and service providers (such as insurers, bank, solicitor, doctor, dentist, vets, and council) about your move.

Start using up your stocks of food from the fridge, freezer and pantry well before you move.

Ensure that none of your perishable foods - such as cereals, flour and vegetables - go into storage when you move.

Arrange childcare and pet care for the day of your move, or think about a “safe” room they can be during the move itself so they’re out of the way.

Keep aside any jewellery, money, important documents, tickets, clothing, toys etc that you may need during the move.

Defrost your fridge and freezer and clean it out.

Disconnect stereos, computers, televisions, appliances (where possible) and other electronic devices. Tie up cords and place in original boxes if you still have them.

Empty fuel from mowers, weedeaters, etc before removal.

Make sure drawers are not overloaded and they don’t contain liquids or breakable items.
